Priority

The Inspirational word of the week is…

Priority (noun) 1. the state of being earlier in time 2. the right of precedence over others 3. something given specified attention.

rearview-mirror So I was pulling the trailer behind my car this morning, taking some left-over construction materials back to the store for a refund.  The box was a quite long, so it hung out over the back of the trailer. I was driving very cautiously, so as not to lose the box. My darling husband had helped me strap it down this morning, but with only one ratchet strap. About 10 minutes into my drive, as I watched the end of the box slide to the left through my rear-view mirror, it became apparent that one strap wasn’t going to be enough.

So I pulled over and secured the box with another strap. The rest of my trip went smoothly, although I still kept a fairly close eye on the box in my rear-view mirror. After more than half an hour, I delivered my stuff to the store and got my refund!  Woohoo!

My priority this morning, was to transport this material safely back to the store. If my priority had been speed, then I most surely would have lost the box and any chance of getting my refund.

Which brings me to this word, priority.

You can tell a lot about a person’s priorities by looking at what they focus on and how they spend their time. What is important will be glowing, polished and vibrant, while their lesser priorities will fade or die.

I must confess, I’ve not been able to head back down to Occupy Detroit for a couple of weeks. Although I still completely agree with their mission and want to support the people, I’ve been sick. Since I’m unwilling to compromise my health or the health of other people, my priority has been to get healthy. So I’ve been doing my best to take care of myself so that I’ll eventually be able to make my way back down there with supplies and inspiration. And in the mean-time, I’ll keep an eye on the website and continue gathering provisions to take down there. (probably by next week)

congress-stealing-money

It’s disgusting to see where our Congress’ priorities have been.

According to an article in the newspaper of Capitol Hill, Roll Call, our lawmakers’ net worth increased by 25 % since 2008. And this number is actually underestimated because it doesn’t include homes and other non-income generating property. After crunching all of the numbers, the median income for a member of Congress is $513,000.

I don’t know about you, but that’s not anywhere close to what this household brings in.

So it’s not surprising that a lot of our Congress people aren’t working very hard to fix our problems, since they’re the ones getting rich off of them. Instead of doing their jobs and putting the rest of the country back to work, they’ve been stuffing their own pockets with corporate money.

steaming-mad

Your Congress people need to hear YOUR voice, my friendly blog reader!

Give them a call and tell them you want things to change.

Be the squeaky wheel that demands the grease!

Make them understand that YOU, your family and your job should their priority. (Dammit!!)

Call their office and tell them and their staff that if you don’t see significant and drastic changes in their policies, you’ll be voting them out of office. Remind them that they’re supposed to represent YOU!

by-the-people-for-the-people

Don’t be shy! Stand up for your rights! Show yourself and your kids what the American Spirit looks like!

The future of our country depends on YOU!

You can do it.

I know you can.

Just one phone call a day can really impress upon your Congress person how vitally important YOU are!

Don’t get discouraged. You still have a chance to make a difference!!!

Let us all UNITE!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this, my friendly blog reader!

I’d love to know what you think (as long as it’s respectful) in the comments below.

Have a wonderful weekend!

xoxo Pam

FYI……. since my family and I took all of our money and put it into our local Credit Union,  I sleep much better. :)
