I saw this picture on Twitter, and it made me think about God.

This past month marked the 20th anniversary of the passing of Jim Henson. (I still can’t look at this picture without crying.) This picture is a touching tribute to the love between a creator and his ultimate inspiration.

God (the Universe, Source, Force, Divine, Allah whatever) just wants us to acknowledge where we came from and how much love we were created with. Although we can’t feel our Creator in the flesh anymore, the love from the Spirit that created us can’t die. It’s always there within us, supporting us, celebrating us, guiding us, hoping we’ll realize this wonderful gift of life that we’ve all been given. We don’t have to prove ourselves. We don’t owe anything. We are blessed.

frazzledIt’s hard to remember that, sometimes. Jobs, friends, families and responsibilities demand our time and attention which can steal our focus away from the good, leaving us with this overwhelming desire to just be done, already!!

Can’t we just get some peace and quiet for a few minutes!!

We run around, trying not to disappoint anyone else but at the end of the day, we’re the ones left disappointed and unfulfilled.

We need help, rest and rejuvenation.

The first step toward change, big or small, is to acknowledge the need to change in the first place.

When we acknowledge that we’re overwhelmed, stuck or unhappy, doing more is not the answer! Although we might want to try to ‘fix’ whatever it is, without guidance, we’re just wasting our time.

That’s when we need to acknowledge God. (The Universe, the Divine….you know what I mean) God is not this big, mean task-master, demanding we serve Him or risk losing our souls to the fiery pits of Hell for all eternity!

God created us, just like Jim created Kermit, as a gift to the world, to help make the world a better place. muscle-kid

We’re here, in this physical world, to enjoy this life!

This is a gift we’ve been given, my friendly blog reader! Although it’s not always going to be easy (if it were, imagine how boring that would be!), the lessons we learn along the way will help us develop into stronger, smarter, sexier versions of who we already are. We get to be awesome, fulfilled and happy, but we have to stick with it! :)

meditation-poseIt’s when we start to feel worn out and overwhelmed, that we need to stop doing so much, stop worrying about disappointing everyone else, and start focusing on taking care of ourselves. We need to get rooted into where we come from. To find that place deep in the center of our hearts where God lives, where we can get filled up again.

God wants to help, but if we don’t acknowledge him/her, we can’t receive it.

I hope you enjoyed this, my friendly blog reader.

I’d love to read what you think in the comments.

Have a wonderful week, and I’ll be back on Monday with the Inspirational song of the week.

xoxo Pam

  1. Good advice, Pam! It’s true for me…doing too much and getting overwhelmed. I am totally a “yes” person. I know what the word “no” means, but I don’t know how to use it. I think you’re right; I often do more when the best possible thing to do is relax. I just feel so accontable to everyone: Rich, my administrators, my students…How can you slow down when there are a million things to do?

Dear Katie, I want to assure you that I’m thinking about how to answer your question properly and completely. Please know that I really appreciate you reading the blog and commenting, it’s just going to take me some time to formulate my response. I’ve been planning on writing a post this week about generosity and your question plays right into it. I’ll be posting before the end of this week and will send you a link as soon as I’m done. Wishing you soft shoulders and a warm, relaxed tummy! xoxo Pam
