To have a lasting positive influence.

Embrace the place where life happens

captains-officeFor those of you new to this blog, I’m writing a series about an analogy I wrote called You are the Boatcharting a course toward a life worth looking forward to. Each week I’ll write about the different parts of the Boat. I started the beginning of the year with the Ship’s Wheel/Heart, then the Captain/Guide, theRudder/Attitude and now here’s the follow-up to the Captain’s Office/Mind.

In order to do this post justice, I have to Stretch beyond my comfort zone because that’s where growth happens.

Although I’m afraid of over-exposing myself, (giving you a tour of what’s going on in my mind is more than a little intimidating) I want to offer help to heal people and situations. To use all of this abundant energy that I’ve been given to it’s fullest. To make a lasting positive difference To show you, my friendly blog reader, that feeling uncomfortable and unsure is NOT LETHAL!

Although I get nervous sometimes, worrying about whether I’m bringing too much or not enough, this nervousness has inspired me to come up with things to help me handle that energy, to turn it into fuel. To do this I use the Stretch a balancing, centering exercise that helps with focus and stress management; You are the Boat, charting a course toward a life worth looking forward to; the Magic Wands and Handbooks, because faith in yourself is the strongest magic there is; the Tibetan prayer flags and writing this blog every week.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I have a lot of energy! I also promote my home-town of Ortonville through the DDA and work with the Welcome Wagon “to help people find their way.” :)

sky-dragonSometimes, when I’ve shared  what I do with people, they have been absolutely astounded and thrilled! I see the look in their eyes of acceptance and understanding, I get the feeling that I’m supposed to be doing this! I’m on the right track. I couldn’t be happier!!!! Huzzah!!!

And then I realize….. I don’t really know exactly what I’m doing.

Fear and doubt start their ominous creep as I struggle to hold onto that feeling of purpose.

On one side, my mind says “Take it further!!  Go ahead!! You can do it!!  Turn it all into a book! Share it with the world because it needs to get out!

But on the other side, my ‘lizard brain’ says “Who do you think you are? You can’t figure all this out. You’ve green-lizardnever published a ‘real’ book. You’re not even a real writer! People are never going to take you seriously. You should just give up and be happy with what you’ve got.”

That’s when my mind starts to go a million miles an hour.  The monsters in my head start romping and telling stories!! I start to freak out, overwhelming myself with all the details between me and my dream.

Letting my mind run amuck  is never going to help me, but focusing my attention will. :)

“My focus isn’t on the outcome, but on choosing my experience right now.” Steve Errey

I can stay mindful of my souls journey into full existence by savoring the important parts of life.

That’s where grace and finesse are conceived.

Although I have fears and worries, they don’t define who I am.

“Just because I don’t know….. doesn’t mean I won’t know then. Just because I don’t how…… doesn’t mean I won’t know when.” me :)

djembe12I promise to give myself a break (remember the Easing minds list from the last post.…) and  to take that nap. (Thanks Lisa!)

To be gentle with my creativity in order for it to feel safe enough to come out and play.

To be open to different ways of looking at the world and embracing them. (Thanks Fabeku!)

To make space within myself to grow.

To remember my own advice and do the Stretch………

Stay open to the balance of energies

Show patience for time to do it’s work

Embrace the place where life happens

By recognizing graciousness, kindness, generosity and bravery,

We discover the power to create a better future

Is contained in the present moment……..

By loving myself and remembering that I am loved by my family and friends, (and mydebbie-kora-and-pam Captain), I can access the energy I need.

I grow and feel joy in my life when I balance work, play, spirituality, exercise and my relationships.

Although I can’t always be sure people will accept me or what I have to offer, I believe I’ll become stronger when I share my gifts, because that’s why I’m here.

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too, can become great.” Mark Twain

It’s my heart’s desire to help. I’m honored to try my best and I promise to represent my Captain and my Crew with my highest intentions.

“It’s good to be doin’ what I’m supposed to be doin’ with the people I’m doin’ it with.”

I hope this has helped you!

I would be thrilled to know that you liked it, my friendly blog reader.

xoxo Pam

p.s. Although I can’t tell you what to think, I can help remind you that you’re NOT alone, you’re understood, this road has been walked before……dont-be-afraid.
